The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater named Gary Lengyel to helm the Innovation Center at Whitewater University Technology Park.
“I am honored to be working in this new position and look forward to contributing to the economic growth of Whitewater,” Lengyel said. “The facility is a beautiful new building that both the university and city will want to showcase. The state-of-the-art systems are very impressive as will be the main conference rooms once outfitted. The building provides a quiet, comfortable setting for our tenants.”
As the interim innovation manager, Lengyel will be part of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) team, said Denise Ehlen, ORSP director. “He will also work closely with myself and with Bud Gayhart, director of the Small Business Development Center, to develop the business incubation program that will serve as the cornerstone of our efforts to support start-ups, businesses, and entrepreneurs affiliated with the Innovation Center.”
Lengyel has previously served as a senior staff engineer with Sun Microsystems in Broomfield, Colo., and as a technology consultant in customer services for Hewlett Packard in Colorado Springs. He earned a B.S. in computer science and an M.S. in computer information technology from Regis University in Denver.
Lengyel lives in Whitewater and most recently worked as a project manager on the UW-Whitewater State of Ingenuity Project.
