Looking to hire: Employers visit campus to recruit students

February 02, 2012

Career FairMore than 60 companies, school districts and professional recruiters will visit the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for the annual Multicultural Career Fair. The event, open to all UW-Whitewater students, is noon - 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, in the University Center Hamilton Room.

Employers, including Kohl's, Blain's Farm and Fleet, Generac, Milwaukee Public Schools, Verona Area School District, Deloitte, and Walgreens will be on campus offering jobs, internships and other employment opportunities.

"UW-Whitewater has a great reputation among employers in the region, so students who come to the career fair having done their research will be able to compete for these positions," said Freda Briscoe, program director. The full list can be found here.

This is the time of year when companies are hiring for summer jobs and internships, Briscoe said. "Companies are looking for students who have good critical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills, regardless of their major," she said.

Students who want to network but are not looking for employment would benefit from attending. "Employers don't forget students who conduct themselves professionally and ask good questions," Briscoe said. "There may be excellent future opportunities."

Business attire is encouraged. Students should register on the Hawk Jobs website before attending.
