Janesville Promise scholarship winners announced

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater announces the inaugural class of Janesville Promise Fund scholarship award winners.

The 2012 recipients are Stephen Allison, Kenneth Disch, Marina Eckert, Jessica Finnane, Brittany Geller, Brittany Guild, Brianna Lemmer, Lydia Lobrano, Marco Marquez, Jaimee Miller, Andrew Somerville, Darien Sopher, Taylor Stokes, Adam Vesterfelt and Zachary Vogt.

The Janesville Promise Fund, established by UW-Whitewater alumni Quint and Rishy Studer, awards $50,000 annually to graduates of Craig and Parker high schools.

Scholarship candidates must be admitted to UW-Whitewater by Feb. 1 and submit the following for consideration: two letters of recommendation from high school teachers or employers, an original essay demonstrating qualifications, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and the Janesville Promise Fund scholarship application. Materials for next year's are due Feb. 1, 2013. Students should contact their school counselors for more information.
