UW-Whitewater hosts Wisconsin Idea Forum

April 12, 2012

Hyland Hall lightsUniversity and business leaders from across the state will meet at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for the 2012 Wisconsin Idea Forum.

This year's theme is "Building Wisconsin's Entrepreneurial Ecosystem." The free event, Friday, April 27, will take place in Timothy J. Hyland Hall.

"The University of Wisconsin System is a powerful economic engine for the state," said Denise Ehlen, director of Research and Sponsored Programs. "Our forum will focus on supporting entrepreneurs by sharing the talents of our faculty and staff members and students."

Sessions will discuss ways that academic courses can address the needs of businesses, how scholarly activity can create new companies and jobs, and how institutes, centers and other outreach programs can maintain the state's competitiveness in the global economy.

Chancellor Richard Telfer, Provost Beverly Kopper and Assistant Professor of Management Jeff Vanevenhoven are scheduled to speak, along with Doan Winkel, assistant professor of entrepreneurship at Illinois State University.

The registration deadline is Thursday, April 19. A pre-event workshop will be held on Thursday, April 26.
