Winter commencement set for Dec. 15

Proud students will march across the stage in a commencement ceremony Saturday, Dec. 15, as 760 graduates receive degrees from UW-Whitewater.

Friends, family members and university leaders will gather for the event, which begins at 10 a.m. in the Kachel Fieldhouse.  It will be streamed live on video by NMTV Sports, which streams video coverage of Warhawk athletic events.

BellmanThis year's speaker is Floyd Bellman, a retired partner and vice president of Harris Associates, an investment advisory firm based in Chicago since 1976. He earned his bachelor's degree in finance in 1980 from the College of Business and Economics.

Bellman is an alumni mentor to an undergraduate business student and serves on the board of the UW-Whitewater Foundation.  He is also a member of the College of Business and Economics Advisory Board and the Finance and Business Law Advisory Board.

MendezThe student speaker will be Erica Mendez from Kenosha, who is receiving a bachelor's degree in journalism with a minor in integrated marketing communications.  She has been a reporter, producer and camera operator for UWW-TV and is among the students chosen to be Warhawk Ambassadors, who help host university events.

Among the graduates are 27 military veterans and 16 international students.

The registrar's office lists 760 December graduates from UW-Whitewater's four colleges and the School of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education.  That reflects 234 graduates from the College of Letters and Sciences, 177 from the College of Business and Economics, 151 from the College of Education and Professional Studies, 93 from the College of Arts and Communication and 105 receiving master's degrees.
