UW-Whitewater chancellor finalists named

May 01, 2015

University of Wisconsin System President Ray Cross today announced five finalists for the position of chancellor at UW-Whitewater.

A 21-member search and screen committee, chaired by Paul Ambrose, associate professor of information technology and supply chain management, recommended the slate of finalists to Cross and a special committee of the UW System Board of Regents chaired by Regent President Margaret Farrow.

The five candidates will participate in a series of public forums listed below, offering opportunities for faculty, staff, students and community members to interact directly with the finalists. The on-campus forums will be streamed live online and recorded, and the links will be updated.

Feedback on the candidates may be provided to any member of the chancellor search committee, or via email at chansearch@uww.edu.

President Cross and the Special Regent Committee will interview finalists on May 20. Other committee members include Regent Vice President Regina Millner, Regent Janice Mueller, and Regent Drew Petersen. They will recommend one candidate to the full Board of Regents, which must approve the appointment. The committee’s recommendation is due to be taken up by the full Board of Regents the following week, and the appointment will be announced after that meeting.

The person selected through this process will be UW-Whitewater’s 16th chancellor, succeeding Richard Telfer, who announced last November that he will be retiring. Telfer has served as the university’s top administrator since 2007. He has been a member of the UW-Whitewater faculty for three decades.
