Take a free online philosophy class this summer in a virtual world

Second Life screen shotOnce again, UW-Whitewater is offering alumni the free opportunity to take a philosophy course online this summer. From the comfort of your own home (or wherever you like), you can sit in on Chris Calvert-Minor's Introduction to Philosophy course in the online, virtual world of Second Life.

Have you ever wondered whether you can prove God exists or does not exist? Do you have free will or is that just an illusion? Is the world we see and live within really the "real" world, or perhaps it is but a well-designed computer simulation? If these are questions you would love to explore, please come join the discussion this summer!

No traveling. No cost. No grades. No credits. The only requirement is that you set up a free Second Life account and avatar (www.secondlife.com) and contact Chris Calvert-Minor, associate professor of philosophy and religious studies, at calvertc@uww.edu for more details.

The course runs from June 16 to July 23 and meets in the virtual world on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 - 6:50 p.m. You can come to as many or as few class sessions as you like - it is completely up to you. Come and think!
