For the fifth year in a row, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is listed among the top workplaces in the region by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. No other public university or state agency has made the list in that time.
"Despite the challenges we have faced, the faculty and staff at UW-Whitewater continue to put the student experience first," said Richard Telfer, chancellor. "I also believe that our employees treat each other with respect and create a culture that makes this such a great place to work."
The Top Workplaces list ranks public and private organizations based on employee surveys. About 67,000 people in the southeast Wisconsin area responded to questions about company direction, pay and benefits, management, work/life balance and career opportunities.
Companies where employees feel a connection to workplace goals and have confidence in their direction were most likely to make the list, according to organizers. Innovation and collaboration were also common attributes among the top workplaces.
Telfer noted that, over the past year, the university celebrated notable accomplishments across departments and disciplines.
"Our students and their faculty mentors continue to raise the bar in terms of academic research, and our athletic teams brought home numerous national and conference championships," he said.
