hackathonStudents and community members will unleash their creativity and technical expertise at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's annual Hackathon.

The event, hosted by the campus Association for Information Systems chapter, starts at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, in Upham Hall, and continues through the night to conclude at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19.

"The Hackathon is an overnight event where students and community members can come together in teams of five people or less and compete to see who can develop a better program, game or solution in a limited amount of time," said student and AIS member Qixin "Annie" Li.

Teams will compete against one another to build something that must impress a panel of judges.

"The Hackathon is a great way to make new friends. We had students last year come by themselves and join a random team. This event is also a great resume builder," said Li.

The event will also pay tribute to Professor Bob Horton, who passed away in October. Horton guided the Information Technology and Supply Chain Management department through the years and had a profound impact in both academics and student life.

This event is free for all to join and includes food, a T-shirt and cash prizes. For more more information, visit: facebook.com/ais.uww
