uw-whitewater named top workplace
For the third consecutive year, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is the only university and only state agency named a Top Workplace in southeast Wisconsin.
Kudos to the Office of PreCollege Programs for winning a $216,901 grant from the Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation. Funds will be used to serve an additional 100 students at UW-Whitewater. The Office of PreCollege Programs administers the Upward Bound Program, PreCollege Summer Academic Camps and Saturday College Program.
Kudos to Lawrence Neuman, chair of the sociology, anthropology, and criminal Justice department, who was recently awarded a $19,976 Kikkoman Foundation grant. This grant will provide support for an ALLEX Teaching Fellow at UW-Whitewater during the 2013-14 academic year, as well as further develop the Japanese studies major.
Classified Staff Recognition and Retirement Dinner
The UW-Whitewater Classified Staff Recognition and Retirement Dinner will be held Tuesday, June 11, in the Old Main Ballroom, University Center room 275. A social hour will begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by a dinner and program at 5 p.m. The event is open to all. Please RSVP by June 3.
Those recognized will include retirees from the 2012-13 academic year and the 2013 Classified Staff Excellence Award winners Julie Marino, Curriculum and Instruction, and Nick Ciesinski, iCIT.
Campus Tutorial Services
The Campus Tutorial Center will be open this summer providing tutoring in accounting, biology, chemistry, Chinese, economics, gened courses, Japanese, math, PPST, Praxis I and II, Spanish and writing. For more information about summer tutoring, please visit www.uww.edu/tutorial.

Violence Against Women Webinar
Please consider joining the Violence Against Women Act UPDATE Webinar on Thursday, May 30, from 1 - 2:30pm in University Center room 264. The recent reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) has significant implications for higher education, specifically related to Clery Act and Title IX compliance. This interactive webinar will present the recent changes and the steps needed to take in order to comply with the VAWA reauthorization and reconcile th act with other regulations.
