State of the University Address
Chancellor Richard Telfer will deliver his state of the university address on Monday, Aug. 26, at 10:30 a.m. in Young Auditorium. The campus community is invited to attend.
Technology Open House
ICIT's faculty and staff Technology Open House is Monday, Aug. 26, from 2-5 p.m. in University Center room 275B. This is an opportunity for staff to check out the latest IT services and products available both on campus and at home, including collaboration technology, instructional resources, remote access to campus and more. PLINSKE FAREWELL EVENT
After nine years at the helm of intercollegiate athletics at UW-Whitewater, Paul Plinske has been named the athletic director at the University of Nebraska Kearney. Read more >>
Join us for a celebration of the contributions Plinske has made to UW-Whitewater, the athletic department and community. The event is Thursday, Aug. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. It will be held at Whitewater Country Club. Light appetizers and cake will be provided. A cash bar will be available.

Women in Higher Education Leadership
On Thursday, Aug. 22, UW-Whitewater will host "Women in Higher Education Leadership." A meet-and-greet begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Hyland Hall atrium with a welcome by Provost Beverly Kopper. Keynote speaker Danae D. Davis, CEO of PEARLS for Teen Girls, will present "Leadership is all inclusive: Stepping into your leadership power" at 11 a.m. in Timmerman Auditorium.
The event is free and open to everyone.

On Tuesday, Aug. 27, George Mehaffy of AASCU will present "The Changing Landscape of Higher Education: Peril & Promise in a New Age."
In addition to the keynote, the day features several sessions, including a meet-and-greet, introduction of new faculty and staff members by Provost Beverly Kopper, lunch and workshop. Only the lunch and afternoon workshop require advance registration. Morning activities are open to all.

Several media outlets reported on new findings by Russ Kashian and Richard McGregory that minority-owned banks pay higher CD interest rates than white-owned banks.
Kudos to the Office of Residence Life, which was recently awarded the MAP-Works 2013 Excellence Award at the MAP-Works annual conference. Trelana Daniel, assistant director of residence life-staff and academic development, accepted the award for the university.
Kudos to Christina Aichele, assistant director of residence life-learning communities, leadership and inclusion, who was recently selected by the National Association of College and University Residence Halls as its next conference resource consultant.
Kudos to Amy Zelinger, associate head coach for the women's basketball team, who will be inducted into the UW-Stout Athletic Hall of Fame in November. Read more >>

Provost Beverly Kopper invites the campus community to visit with her during regular office hours Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 7:30 - 9 a.m. in the University Center Commons area.
discover whitewater series
Registration is now open for the Discover Whitewater Series. The event is Sunday, Sept. 22, and features a half-marathon, half-marathon relay, 5K, and fit kid shuffle. The course, which is USTAF-certified, will start and finish at the Whitewater Aquatic Center.
Proceeds from the event will go to five local organizations in an effort to build a stronger community. These organizations include: Bethel House, UW-Whitewater Athletics, W3 (Working for Whitewater's Wellness), Whitewater Unified School District to promote academic excellence, and the Whitewater Aquatic Center.
