professor wins fulbright, publishes new book
Jim Winship, professor of social work, will give a presentation on his new book, "Coming of Age in El Salvador," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at the Irvin L. Young Memorial Library, 431 W. Center St., Whitewater.
Winship has won another Fulbright award to continue his research and exploration of Latin America. Read more >>
Chancellor's Listening session
Chancellor Richard Telfer will hold a campus-wide listening session on Tuesday, July 15, at 2 p.m. in University Center room 261. There is no agenda. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome to attend.

New Student Convocation is a ceremonial event similar to commencement. This year's event involves faculty and staff wearing academic regalia. FYE is offering to cover the charges of the regalia rental. A campus-wide cookout will follow convocation in Gym 1 and outdoors (weather permitting). Lunch is free for faculty and staff.
At roberta's art gallery
From July 9 - August 13, Roberta's Art Gallery will host "Two Perspectives," an exhibit featuring vibrant images by two Whitewater artists, Karolyn Alexander and Dawn Hunter. The gallery is open Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Friday, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
A nationally recognized expert on cultural diversity and disabilities is leading an upcoming UW-Whitewater seminar for educators.
Gloria Campbell-Whatley, an associate professor in the Department of Special Education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, will lead the 2014 Summer Institute Series, "Culturally Responsive Instruction and the Common Core Curriculum Standards."
The institute will take place August 6-7 and is sponsored by the Department of Special Education and the Office of Continuing Education and Graduate Studies. Read more >>

The campus community is invited to a retirement celebration for Christine Clements, dean of the College of Business and Economics, from 3:30 - 5 p.m. Thursday, July 24, in University Center room 259. The event program will begin at 4 p.m.

If you have suits, ties, dresses, slacks and other business attire that you would like to donate for needy students please drop off these items at the circle drive between the University Center and McGraw Hall on Thursday, July 24, 7:30-8:30 a.m., noon-1:30 p.m. and 3:30-5:30 p.m.
