National honor

Associate Professor Akiko Yoshida of the Department of Sociology, Criminology and Anthropology was invited by the National Endowment for the Humanities to serve on the panel of reviewers for fellowship applications.


Faculty poet wins state writing contest

Lecturer Nicholas Gulig won first place in the 2017 Wisconsin People & Ideas writing contest for his poem "The New American Nostalgia."

Campus Kudos

Kudos to Kristina Navarro, associate professor of health, physical education, recreation and coaching, who received the 2017 Professional Excellence Award on June 12 at the National Associate of Academic Advisors for Athletics conference in Orlando, Florida.

Kudos to Jo Ann Oravec, professor of information technology and supply chain management department, who will present a paper at the History of Economics Society Annual Conference held by the University of Toronto at Trinity College on June 25. Her presentation is titled "Artificial Intelligence, Automation, and Economics: Discourse on Productivity and Unemployment."

Kudos to S-A Welch, associate professor of communication, who has been elected as chair of the research Ccmmittee for the International Listening Association. This international organization promotes the study of listening, and pursues research into the ways in which listening can develop understanding in our personal, political, social and working lives.‚Äč
