    Research Advantage

Undergraduate research sparks intellectual curiosity, instills self-confidence and gives students the UW-Whitewater advantage when they seek jobs or graduate education.

Students work closely with faculty mentors to explore topics in every discipline. They learn to ask critical questions, make empirical observations and use contemporary technology in their pursuit of knowledge.

Each spring, nearly 150 students share their projects during the annual Undergraduate Research Day. The 16th annual presentation in 2011 showcased projects ranging from analysis of GI Bills to water quality in Bluff Creek to the saxophone in contemporary music.

Fifteen students won summer research fellowships in 2011 for projects that included a community dance program in Vilas County, an internship at a Colorado veterinary hospital, an analysis of Sarah Palin's media coverage and an opera performance in Italy.
