Kudos to UW-Whitewater head volleyball coach Stacy Boudreau for her 500th career win. Boudreau became the sixth coach in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference history to reach the 500-win plateau.
Kudos to UW-Whitewater women’s soccer team coach, Ryan Quamme, who has become the coach with the most wins in the program's history with 127 wins.
Kudos to Dave Gee, lecturer of management, on the launch of his new book, “The College Student Startup Guide.” The second book Gee has released, it shares key insights he has gleaned as an entrepreneur and as a mentor and provides a step-by-step guide to help students balance college life and launch a thriving startup. Kudos to Isabella Virrueta, career advisor in Career and Leadership Development, and Marco Marquez, graduate student in the Higher Education Leadership Program, who will participate in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators Region IV-E 2019 Conference in Des Moines, Iowa, on Nov. 3-5. They will co-present “La Raza Unida: How Higher Education Professionals Can Support and Understand Undocumented Student Involvement and Activism,” based on Assistant Professor Courtney Luedke’s research about how higher education professionals can better support undocumented students.

Pam Tillis will bring her unmistakable sound for an intimate acoustic performance at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Young Auditorium. Medieval history came to life on the Rock County campus as engineering students built a trebuchet and demonstrated it for medieval history students.
New study cites loss of birds
Professor Tom Klubertanz has been studying birds at Janesville’s Cook Arboretum for years and has recently reported a shocking decline in population. He will begin teaching a natural history of Wisconsin class at UW-Whitewater at Rock County and hopes to incorporate his findings into the curriculum.

LEAP Workshops 2020
Liberal Education and America’s Promise (LEAP) is an initiative aimed at improving teaching, learning, and student success. All faculty, staff and students are invited to form teams and participate in this year’s LEAP workshops, January 8-9, 2020, at the University Center, room 259, and May 18, 2020, at the Hyatt Smith Commons on the Rock County campus.
To learn more about LEAP and how to create teams, join a brown bag session on: Monday, Nov. 11, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., or Thursday, Nov. 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., both in University Center, room 266; or Monday, Nov. 18, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Fireplace Lounge on the Rock County campus.
The deadline to apply is Friday, Nov. 25.
