Virtual Celebration of Graduates

Help us celebrate UW-Whitewater's spring graduates at our Virtual Celebration of Graduates at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, on Facebook Live. During this 30-minute program our chancellor and interim provost will preside and our student speakers will share their thoughts. And then — get ready to join us in the Warhawk Strut!

This event isn’t meant to take the place of a traditional commencement ceremony — a decision is still pending on when that will be held. But we wanted to celebrate our very special 150th graduating class. Go Warhawks!

WHY I TEACH, Marilyn Annucci

In WHY I TEACH, award-winning poet Marilyn Annucci talks about the choice she made to be a writer and a teacher.

“There is pleasure in leading students to that moment where they see something they didn’t see before.

“They’ll read a story and they think they understood it. And then we start talking about it more and we start asking more questions — ‘Oh, wow, there’s all these other layers to it.’ And that’s really exciting.”

WHY I TEACH, Susan Stredulinsky

In WHY I TEACH, Susan Stredulinsky, senior lecturer of biology on our Rock County campus, talks about sharing her enthusiasm about all things biological — and about learning in general — with her students.

"I get a sense of satisfaction when I can help my students open their minds to new ways of thinking that help them be more accepting of diversity in others, healthier as individuals or feel more connected to other living things."
