Important changes for the Warhawk Shuttle
 
The Warhawk Shuttle is operating to serve students needing rides between the Whitewater and Rock County campuses with service to the Van Galder bus terminal. This year we have a few changes, including a reservation system, new schedule, COVID precautions for passengers, and a new pickup location on the Whitewater campus.

Kenny Yarbrough appointed as Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Designee
 
Kenny Yarbrough, chief equity, diversity and inclusion officer, has been named as the athletics department's Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Designee. Yarbrough will be the point of communication between the NCAA national office, athletics department, conference office and campus when information involving inclusive programs, emerging diversity issues and other related equity initiatives needs to be shared.

Warhawk Drive is purple once again
 
The Class of 2024 did it! Working in 30-minutes shifts, groups of new students painted Warhawk Drive a glorious purple — a Welcome Week tradition — on Tuesday, Sept. 1. Even Chancellor Watson took a turn!

Ashley Vande Hei, who is majoring in communication sciences and disorders and Spanish, received a $5,000 scholarship from the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. She is president of the UW-Whitewater Phi Eta Sigma sorority chapter and an honors student. She recently studied for one semester in Oaxaca, Mexico, to further her Spanish speaking and comprehension. Ashley played for two years on the Warhawk volleyball team and has dedicated more than 80 hours as a volunteer at Fairhaven Senior Services, retirement community, in UW-Whitewater's LIFE program, and as a teaching aid for America Reads. Congratulations, Ashley!

University Center entertainment
 
Movies are showing in Summers Auditorium, with increased showtimes due to a 25-person capacity. In addition to in-person activites in Warhawk Alley, the University Center will be offering virtual entertainment this semsester. Roberta's Art Gallery is offering virtual workshops and exhibits, and there will be plenty of virtual Thursday night entertainment!

Are you looking to get involved and meet people on campus? Make sure you check out the the Student Involvement Fair! It will be held virtually this year, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9, and hosted on uww.edu/connect. Students will have the opportunity to visit different rooms, learn about the groups and find out how to join them.

The Community Space
The Community Space, located at 834 E. Milwaukee Street in Whitewater, Wisconsin, provides food, clothing, furniture and more to people in a dignified, respectful and joyful manner. All are welcome. A Little Free Pantry is available 24/7. 262-379-0187.
 
 
 
Free meals available
Starting Tuesday, Sept. 1, free home-made, microwavable, take-home dinners will be distributed on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 5 and 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church at 145 S. Prairie Street, Whitewater. Individuals will receive three meals at each pickup through a no-contact window on the side of the building.
