Resilience in a time of COVID-19

This year's Fall Diversity Forum, We All Belong Here, will take place on Sept. 29, 30 and Oct. 1 as a virtual event. Join us for panelist discussions on COVID experiences, personal pronoun useage and disability rights.

Unity Walk

Join BSU and WSG for UW-Whitewater’s Unity Walk in support of the Black Lives Matter Movement! Participants in the walk are required to wear face coverings and check in on the UW-Whitewater App. There will be two parts to this socially-distanced event: a self-guided unity walk and a unity walk reflection. Do you need help registering to vote? Warhawks Vote is hosting three voter registration tutorials from 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, Tuesday, Sept. 22, and Tuesday, Oct. 6. Drop in via the Webex link below and Warhawks Vote will walk you through the registration process!

At 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, Roberta's Art Gallery will be hosting a Facebook Live virtual workshop to teach you how to paint a bowling pin! AND they have free kits full of all the supplies you will need for this event! Sign up online to reserve your spot and stop by the gallery during normal business hours on Sept. 16.

Bach Cello Suites: a live performance

Join Benjamin Whitcomb, professor of music, and Bethann Handzlik, lecturer of art and design, in a unique and aesthetic experience at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, outdoors, north of the University Center. Face coverings and social distancing are required.

Beethoven at 250, Myung Hee Chung, piano

In honor of Beethoven’s 250th birthday, Myung Hee Chung, professor of music, will perform a solo piano concert comprised entirely of Beethoven’s compositions. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased at tickets.uww.edu. The digital concert will be delivered to ticketholders on Monday, Sept. 28.

Grand Opening for Cravath Lakefront Park’s New Amphitheater

The City of Whitewater is excited to announce the grand opening of the new amphitheater on the Cravath lakefront at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 17. The celebration will begin with a ribbon cutting, followed by a live performance by the New Piano Guys, Wisconsin’s own dueling piano entertainment. Face coverings and social distancing are required.

Mammoth Hike Challenge

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Ice Age Trail becoming an official National Scenic Trail by joining the Mammoth Hike Challenge! Track 40 miles of activity – hiking, walking, running, or backpacking – on the Ice Age Trail during the month of October 2020 and visit three of our Trail Communities to earn a hiking certificate.

The Community Space
The Community Space, located at 834 E. Milwaukee Street in Whitewater, Wisconsin, provides food, clothing, furniture and more to people in a dignified, respectful and joyful manner. All are welcome. A Little Free Pantry is available 24/7. 262-379-0187.

Free meals available
Starting Tuesday, Sept. 1, free home-made, microwavable, take-home dinners will be distributed on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 5 and 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church at 145 S. Prairie Street, Whitewater. Individuals will receive three meals at each pickup through a no-contact window on the side of the building.
