Online BBA FAQs

All online undergraduate business students receive identical diplomas stating that they are graduates of the business program at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Both our online classes and traditional classes are held to the same high standard of quality. Students may complete the online undergraduate business program attending only online courses, only traditional courses, or a combination of online and traditional courses.

AACSB International -- The International Association for Management Education is a not-for-profit corporation of educational institutions, corporations, and other organizations devoted to the promotion and improvement of higher education in business administration and management. Organized in 1916, AACSB International is the premier accrediting agency for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs in business administration and accounting. AACSB International also is the professional organization for management education.

The fee for College of Business and Economics online undergraduate business program web courses is $360 per unit (credit) for both resident and non-resident students for each online unit/credit in which the student is enrolled. The 12 credit ceiling for traditional class tuition charges will not impact the online class charges. For example, if you are taking 12 credits of traditional classes and a 3-credit online course, your tuition charge will be $2783.52 (for 12-credits of traditional classes - if in-state) + $1080 (for the 3-credit online class) = $3863.52. The $360 per unit applies to every student, resident and non-resident, who chooses to take an online undergraduate business class.

You could take up to 18 credits during Fall and Spring terms and 12 credits during the Summer term without special permission if the courses you need are available. twelve credits is considered a full load! Courses are currently structured to coincide (begin and end) with the campus' normal schedule. Courses are sixteen weeks during Fall and Spring semesters, three and six weeks for Summer Session and three weeks for Winterim Session.

Yes. You can take courses completely online, online and on campus, or strictly on campus in nearly limitless combinations.

If you do not have any college credits, you may start our on-line degree at any number of places, but we highly recommend UW Colleges Online. You could complete your first 60 credits there, and then transfer to UW-Whitewater's online program.

A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 500 or the equivalent on another exam for students from countries where English is not the native language is required for admission.

If at some point you earned low grades and then had a five-year gap in your education, the combined grade point average starts over after the gap. If you would be transferring less than 60 credits, you should consider working with UW Colleges Online to complete your remaining lower level requirements.

The College of Business and Economics uses your combined grade point average to determine eligibility for courses, admission to the College and graduation. 'Combined grade point average' means that we use the grades you earned on transfer courses in combination with your UW-Whitewater gpa. UW-Whitewater does not give credit for life experience. If you have acquired the knowledge of a course, you can attempt to earn credit by examination.

UW-Whitewater uses a "rolling" admission. Students may begin in fall, spring, or summer. The fall semester begins around September 1; the spring semester begins around January 15, and the summer term begins in late May. Your application should be submitted at least 2 months in advance of your intended start date.

Yes, you apply to UW-Whitewater as a special student (no credentials). You will also need to submit a verification of your standing and grade point average from your school. Also send verification from your program adviser that you are in good standing and that the course(s) will satisfy requirements in your degree.

No, the classes are completely asynchronous at this time, so there is no mandatory time to log on. Instructors may have deadlines to complete assignments, but not a time when you have to log on to talk with them.

After completion of the program, you will receive a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater. This is the exact same degree that our on campus students receive.

Textbook costs are included as part of the tuition and fees. Most courses also use an instructional CD that can be purchased for under $7.50, however the CD's materials can also be viewed online with a broadband internet connection.

Most students must pay a nonrefundable $35 application fee. The fee is not required if your last institution attended was a two-year UW Colleges (freshman/sophomore) campus. The fee is required if you are transferring between four-year UW campuses. The application fee is not required if you are applying at a UW System institution you have previously attended as a degree-seeking student. The fee is valid for one year (two semesters and a summer session).
