Liberal Studies

The liberal studies program offers students a broad-based education that gives them the skills necessary for a wide range of career opportunities and the flexibility to adapt to today's rapidly changing employment environment. The program includes study of a variety of disciplines-the arts, humanities, sciences and social sciences-that enable students to develop a global view of the world, a capacity for critical thinking, and a fundamental understanding of human nature, society and values. In addition, the program helps students develop the skills and abilities that employers consider most important: problem solving, analytical thinking, interpersonal relations and communication skills, among others. These are the skills that provide the flexibility to advance in your current career, to adapt to a rapidly changing employment environment, to learn new skills, and to enhance your opportunities for success in whatever field you choose.

The liberal studies program can be pursued as a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Arts degree. It offers two options: a 54 credit major that incorporates a focus area, or a 36 credit major that requires a minor. For more information, go to the Philosophy, Religious Studies and Liberal Studies Web site.
