Kyle Gribble from the Windy City Warriors has signed his letter of intent to join the UW-Whitewater Warhawks for the Fall 2014 semester. We are excited to say we will add another talented athlete to our roster. When he signed his letter, we asked him a few questions for you:
What excites you most about coming to Whitewater?
I get to start a new career with the Warhawks. Basketball has been a big part of my life in Junior Wheelchair Basketball and it is exciting to get a fresh start with Whitewater. I also get new teammates which is always a learning curve. However, basketball isn't the only thing that I am aiming to succeed at in Whitewater. I am coming to UW-Whitewater to get an education. I feel that I can succeed at Whitewater because of its family atmosphere, which will help with my transition from High School to College.
What is your Major?
Physical Education with a Minor in Coaching.
What adjustments will you have to make as a player and a student?
As a player I need to raise my level of play; I need to be quicker, tougher, stronger, and overall become a better player. In my college career, I need to be more focused in class and make sure that I consistently do all of the work required to help me stay on track.
What will you miss most about Juniors?
I am going to miss my teammates the most.
What was your most memorable time while playing Juniors?
My most memorable experience was beating Minnesota at Junior Nationals 2013, last year, to clinch third place. It was a close game and it came down to the end with us winning by two points.
Why did you choose Whitewater?
Personally, I thought that it was the best place for me to receive a higher education. Whitewater is my home away from home and I know that the players on the team right now will help me and make me feel like I am at home. Also, all of the great athletes on this team will allow me to become the best player that I can be.
What is the first thing that you are going to do in Whitewater?
Skip rookie practices... just kidding! - But in all seriousness, I want to hit the gym to better myself. I also want to hang out with the guys and start forming chemistry with the players. It is going to be nice to meet new people and learn the ins and outs of the campus.
With this information from him, we would like to send him a warm welcome from the entire program and express our excitement for him to join us.
