UW-Whitewater Wheelchair Athletics brings in the New Year by welcoming Marissa Bartels to the program in the fall of 2015! Marissa comes to us from Delano, Minnesota and plays juniors for the Minnesota Jr. Rolling Timberwolves.

What excites you the most about coming to Whitewater?
What excites me most about coming to Whitewater is playing for a team that I have felt really close to for years. Also I'm excited to meet new people.
What is your Major?
I am majoring in early childhood education.
Is there anything else you hope to get in involved in while being at UW-Whitewater?
I am not sure of all that Whitewater has to offer, but I am sure I will find a few things to join.
What adjustment will you have to make as a player and a student?
Managing my time differently with a new schedule so I can get studying and practice in.
What do you think you can bring to the team?
I’ll be able to bring a little more height to the team and be another post player.
What will you miss the most about juniors?
I’ll miss all my friends in juniors that I've grown close to.
What was you most memorable time or greatest success while playing juniors?
Winning nationals in 2014 was my greatest memory and also getting the national JV female MVP in 2011 which was my first year playing.
Why did you choose Whitewater?
I chose Whitewater because it has always felt like I was part of a family. At camps it was so easy to talk to the players and I really like the campus.
