The Information Technology (IT) major provides students with IT and business knowledge, skills and training to pursue careers as IT professionals. Students gain technical depth in areas of interest though a set of electives and optional emphases. Graduates of the program are employed as software developers, business analysts, web design and content managers, network/systems/database administrators, security specialist, IT project managers, and consultants.
The Information Technology – Business Application Development emphasis offers a unique blend of computing and management skills designed to harness computer technology to the needs of a wide variety of business, industrial, financial, governmental and educational organizations. Graduates are trained in the areas of programming, systems analysis, and software design and software development with a strong background in business. Typical entry level positions include programmer, programmer/ analyst, systems analyst, software developer and consultant.
The Information Technology – Business Analysis emphasis offers a blend of technical and business skills designed to identify the business needs of clients and stakeholders, and determine solutions to business problems in a wide variety of business, industrial, financial, governmental, healthcare, and educational organizations. Graduates are trained in the areas of business analysis, business intelligence, data modeling, project management, change management, and essential computing skills with a strong background in business. Typical entry-level positions include business analyst, business intelligence specialist, web analysts, change management specialist, and consultant.
The Information Technology – Networking and Security emphasis is offered for individuals who are interested in working in computer networking and security related fields. Graduates are qualified for positions such as network administrators, network engineers, computer and network support specialists, and security and information assurance positions.
