bulletMurder. 29% of all 18-24 year old adult female murder victims are killed by an intimate partner. Each year, approximately 1,200 women die in this country as a result of domestic violence, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. That means 3-4 American women are killed every single day by their husbands, boyfriends, or other intimate partners. The number of men murdered by their intimate partners has declined dramatically since the 1980s (an effect often attributed to the availability of domestic violence shelters), but no such pattern is seen for female victims.
