This page contains links to large web sites with much information on many topics. Most have a searchable data base and are government, university or major health clinic sites. Links on specific concerns are located by topic on the Health A-Z pages

Health:
Harvard Medical School Consumer Information (Aetna InteliHealth provides credible information from trusted sources including Harvard Medical School and University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. The health information includes health news and content as well as access to tools and risk assessments.)
Mayo Clinic (Provides useful and up-to-date information and tools through access to the experience and knowledge of the more than 2000 physicians and scientists. Various searchable databases include Diseases and Conditions, Health Living, Drug Search, Health Tools, and Books and Newsletters. Also, recipes are posted in the "What's Cooking?" section and a new question is answered daily in the "Ask a Specialist" section.)
Gateway to Health Information (Healthfinder is a Gateway to Health Information. It includes a health library of information from A to Z, selected health topics "just for you" organized by gender/age/ect., health care information about doctors/insurance/Medicare/etc., and a direcotry of healthfinder organizations. Other beneficial links include current health news and online checkups.)
WebMD (Good overall site for a wide variety of health and wellness information. Featured articles change frequently)
Medical Research (MEDLINEplus has extensive information from the National Institute of Health and other trusted sources on over 600 diseases and conditions. There are also lists of hospitals and physicians, a medical encyclopedia with pictures and diagrams, a medical dictionary, extensive information on prescription and nonprescription drugs, health information from the media, over 165 interactive tutorials, and links to thousands of clinical trials.)

Pharmaceutical & Herbal Medications (Healthtouch online brings together valuable information from trusted sources on topics such as medications, health, diseases, supplements, and natural medicine.)
GLBT Health Issues (The homepage contains inks to various other web pages that address the health concerns of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people.)
Lesbian Health (Information for college women from a Gay-Straight Alliance and Student Health Services)
Travel Health(The CDC provides health information on: specific destinations, outbreaks of concern to international travelers, specific diseases that can affect travelers, vaccination recommendations for travelers of all ages, how to avoid illness from food or water, what to do before taking children to other countries, travelers with special needs, and specific cruise ships.)
Study Abroad Student Handbooks (Guides to help students find a quality program and prepare for study abroad. They emphasize health and safety issues, with information for parents as well. There are also 29 country specific handbooks.)
Cardiovascular and Lung Web Sites (National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute offers a variety of special cardiovascular and lung web pages and interactive applications. A few of these pages include information on high blood pressure, a BMI calculator, the Healthbeat radio, and quizzes to check your smoking and sleep IQ.)
Meningitis on Campus (Information from the American College Health Association on the disease and vaccination)
Help for International Students in Understanding the US Medical System (The Student Health and Wellness Center at the University of North Texas offers help for international students in understanding the US medical system.)

Disease Risk Calculator (Find out your risk of developing five of the most important diseases in the United States and get personalized tips for preventing them. Developed over the past ten years by the Harvard Center for Cancer Prevention, Your Disease Risk collects the latest scientific evidence on disease risk factors into one easy-to-use tool.

 

Mental Health:
ULifeline (Ulifeline is an online behavioral support system for young adults. Visitors to this site can get fast, frank answers to hundreds of questions about behavior and emotional health, find links to support groups and crisis centers, search behavioral health topics and a drug database, or take an online assessment to gauge their state of emotional well-being.)
Campus Blues (A site just for college students as they move through their personal transitions. Information on loneliness, study skills, time management, depression, anxiety, abuse, roomates, friends, family etc.)
Counseling Center Village (A terrific virtual pamphlet collection on a wide range of counseling topics for college students)
Anxiety Disorders Association (The Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA) promotes the early diagnosis, treatment and cure of anxiety disorders, and is committed to improving the lives of the people who suffer from them.)

American Psychological Association
(The American Psychological Association Online offers quick links for members, psychologists, students and media. There is also news, association information, headlines of the day and various psychological topics.)

National Institute of Mental Health
(This website provides a variety of information on NIMH, current news and events, clinical trials, fundraising opportunities, intramural research, and links for the public, pratitioners and researchers.)
Intimacy and Depression
(Intimacy & Depression: The Silent Epidemic is a national awareness campaign sponsored by the National Depressive and Manic-Depressive Association and the American Association for Marriage and Family. This site offers information on disconnection and reconnecting, intimacy and antidepressants, resources, media events, quizzes,, and answers to frequently asked questions.)
National Mental Health Association
(News, information on advocacy, mental health information, a bookstore and a calendar of events can all be accessed from this website.)

Wellness:
The Daily Motivator (The Daily Motivator is a brief motivtional message that is published each Monday through Saturday on the web and by e-mail. Each daily message is about 200 words long and can easily be read in a minute or two. The Daily Motivator provides a fast, regular and reliable positive boost each day. Specific positive values, such as gratitude, discipline, acceptance, balance, focus and many others are reinforced again and again, yet in a new and refreshing way each time.)
Take a Break
(Take a Break - "Right Now" presentation from The Daily Motivator. This presentation includes a four minute long message set to pictures and music to motivate you through the day.)
Go Ask Alice (Go Ask Alice is Columbia University's Health Question and Answer Internet Service. It includes links to New Alice Questions, Reader Responses and Updates and the Theme of the Week. Questions and Answers are also sorted by the following topics: Relationships, Sexuality, Sexual Health, Fitness and Nutrition, Emotional Health, Alcohol, Nicotine, and Other Drugs, and General Health.)
