Guidelines

One of the most important factors in the success of University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s graphic identity program is consistent implementation of the style guide across the University. Adherence to these guidelines will increase the effectiveness of the program for the entire institution.

LOGO

The logo is a single unit; the two elements of the seal and the words "University of Wisconsin-Whitewater" are always to be presented together.

COLOR

The official colors of UW-Whitewater are purple and white.

For print use
Spot color (coated and uncoated paper): PMS 267
Process color (CMYK): 94c, 94m, 0y, 0k

For Web use
RGB color: r = 74, g = 51, b = 101
Hexadecimal: 4A3365

SIZE AND PLACEMENT

The horizontal wordmarks or themelines should never appear smaller than 21/2" wide. Vertical wordmarks or themlines should not be printed smaller than 11/2" wide. Do not crop the logo or bleed it off a page. Allow a 1/4" of space around the logo.

TYPOGRAPHY

The typeface used in the wordmark is Trajan. The typeface used in the seal is a version of Univers Bold. Charlotte is the preferred standard typeface on stationery, business cards, envelopes and etc. For office-generated material and other official university publications, preferred sans serif typefaces are Helvetica or Optima and preferred serif typefaces are Palatino or Times.

USAGE

General guidelines

  • For one color applications, the wordmark can be printed in purple (267), black, or white (reversed).
  • Maintain the orientation of the logo
  • Treat the logo elements as a single unit
  • Keep the logo whole and intact

Things to avoid

  • Tint or screen the logo or make different elements of the logos colors
  • Tilt or rotate the logo
  • Separate the logo elements or change the orientation of one to the other
  • Bleed the logo off the page or crop it
  • Print type or images over the logo or use the logo as a background element
COMMERCIAL USE

The UW-Whitewater seal, wordmark and monogram are legally protected trademarks. For promotion and resale applications the "TM" subscript must be incorporated with the UW-Whitewater seal and wordmark to provide proper legal protection. Any commercial, fund-raising or promotional uses of the trademarks, or other licensed logos, require prior approval.
