Welcome
to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's 2011 Earth Week celebration! This
year Earth Day (Friday, April 22nd) is also Good Friday and UW-Whitewater is
closed as part of the State of Wisconsin's mandatory furlough. Therefore,
UW-Whitewater will be celebrating Earth Week between April 19th
through 21st with a series of presentations and on-campus events
including guest lectures, film showings, an energy efficient automobile show,
and a green business and organization expo.
Earth Week organizers are inviting interested students, faculty, and
community members to participate in the celebration.
The theme of this years event is The Water-Energy Nexus. We have traditionally addressed water and energy as two separate issues. However, water and energy are deeply connected and sustainable management of either resource requires consideration of the other. People across the country are beginning to take a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to the management of water and energy, The Water-Energy Nexus.
Earth Week events include a variety of talks, films and activities to allow for greater participation from those with a variety of interests. Our schedule for the week includes links to Facebook Events and Outlook Calendar files for easy scheduling. Click on each event to learn more about it!
Please refer to our campus map for locations of buildings and directions. Guest parking can be purchased at the Visitor's Center on Starin Road at a rate of $1 per day. Most campus parking lots also have paid meter parking as needed.

UW-Whitewater Dining Services is helping us celebrate Earth Week at Esker
Hall with
special menu items offered each day. There are also
THREE Guest Chefs that all are campus leaders in sustainability that are
lending their culinary skills during dinner service on Monday - Wednesday this
week. Of course, Wednesday night is also
Steak and Shrimp night so you can always come celebrate carnivore-style.
Come check it out!
