Earth Week 2012 Photography Exhibition

**NOTE: SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE FRIDAY, APRIL 20 at 4:30 PM**

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater will be celebrating Earth Day on Thursday, April 26, 2012 with a series of presentations and on campus events including guest lectures, film showings, an energy efficient automobile show, and a green business and volunteer fair.  The theme of this year’s event is We are All Connected by Rivers.

Earth Day organizers are inviting interested students, faculty and community members to participate in the celebration by submitting digital photographs for inclusion in an exhibition to be held at a variety of sites on campus.  Venues to view the photographs include public video monitors in the Greenhill Center of the Arts, Connor University Center and the College of Business and Economics facility in Hyland Hall.  Computers with display monitors will also be placed in the exhibitions located in the Hamilton Room during Earth Day presentations for a series of rotating slide shows.

To enter the exhibition, please select up to three separate photographs for submission.  The photographs should be appropriate to the celebration.  Landscapes, natural scenes, wildlife and community activities would all be appropriate choices.  Each image should be submitted as a JPEG file.

Each photograph should be saved with a file name that includes the artists name and the numbers 1, 2,or 3 (example: Jennifer Smith1.jpeg) and be accompanied by the entry form.  Artists should list their entries so that they correspond to the file name (example:  Jennifer Smith 1: Northern Wisconsin Landscape, 2012).  All photographs should be of good quality with sharp focus and proper exposure to ensure their inclusion in the exhibit.  File sizes should not exceed 5 MB.

Judges from the Art Department and organizers of the Earth Day Celebration will review entries for adherence to these broad guidelines.   A group of outstanding entries will be selected for display on the large monitor in the Atrium of Hyland Hall during the Earth Day commemoration.

Entries must be submitted to the Earth Day Photography Exhibition no later than Friday, April 20th, by 4:30 pm.  Entries may be e-mailed to: (earthdayatuww@gmail.com).  Entries may also be submitted on a CD and delivered to the Crossman Gallery during regular gallery hours or delivered to: Linda Reid, Department of Finance & Business Law, Office Location:  Hyland Hall 3520.  CD’s should be labeled with the artist’s name and “Earth Day Photo Exhibition.”

Please download the entry form for additional details on entering this competition.  Don't delay... go out and get some great pictures today!
