            Wisconsin Foundations of Reading Test

Students create an account, or log into their account on the NES website and complete the registration process for the test as well pay the fees for the test-students should be prepared to pay this amount by credit card (students without a credit card should refer to the "Policies" tab for options).  Students should be aware of the weekly calendar for Wisconsin Foundations of Reading Test times.  Tests are four hours in length.

Placement Test

Effective January 2015 new students are required to take the UW System Math Placement Test prior to their Plan-It Purple orientation program.  Students can register for this test at the following website (registration begins February 1st):http://testing.wisc.edu/centerpages/regionaltesting.html  Results of the placement test and corresponding course placement will be available to students during their Plan-It Purple orientation program.  Students are allowed to repeat the Math Placement Test one time, and it must be repeated at UW-Whitewater during one of the Residual Placement Testing dates (any exception to this policy is at the discretion of the Testing Director).  

***Important note for test takers with a disability requesting accommodations on the UW Placement Test due to a Disability: Do NOT register online if you are requesting special accommodations due to a disability. 
If you wish to request accommodations due to a disability, please send a letter on your high school letterhead (DO NOT send an IEP) from a teacher, counselor or principal to:

The letter should include the following:
1. Describe what test accommodations are appropriate for you, 
2. Include your address, telephone number, email address and date of birth, 
3. Include which site you wish to test at (unless you are testing through our CBT program at a Castle Worldwide testing site, then just mention you want to test using CBT), 
4. Include what campus you plan to attend in the fall. 

New Freshmen starting their first term of attendance in the spring semester must contact the Testing Office at 262-472-5613 to schedule an individual appointment.  Residual testing for new freshman in the spring semester is available by appointment.  Residual placement testing is not allowed after the tenth day of classes of a student's first term of attendance; additionally, the test administration with the highest placement will be used for placement. Please check the weekly calendar for Placement Testing times and then call the Testing Office at 262-472-5613 to schedule a test-please note that Math and English tests are 1 ½ hours in length each and Foreign Language is an hour in length. There is a $25 Testing Office administration fee for each exam and is payable on the day of your exam by check, cash, money order, or billed to your student account (current UWW students only).

GRE

CLEP

Students create an account, or log into their account on the CLEP website and complete the registration process for the test that they wish to take, as well pay the fees for that test-students should be prepared to pay this amount by credit card.  Students then schedule to take the test at UW-Whitewater by calling the Testing Office at 262-472-5613-please check the weekly calendar for Computer Based Testing times. There is a $25 Testing Office administration fee for each test taken at UWW and this can be paid by cash, check, or money order.  Tests are 90 minutes in length, with the exception of College Composition, which is 120 minutes in length.

DSST

Students register for a test by calling the Testing Office at 262-472-5613-please check the weekly calendar for Computer Based Testing times.  Students should refer to the DSST website for fee information and be prepared to pay this amount prior to their scheduled testing time by credit card, check, or money order.  Additionally, there is a $25 Testing Office administration fee for each test taken and is payable at the time of the exam; this can be paid by cash, check, or money order.  Exams are 2 hours in length.

Language Testing International (OPIc and WPT)

Students register for a test by calling the Testing Office at 262-472-5613-please check the weekly calendar for OPIC testing times.  The OPIc takes 20-40 minutes and the WPT takes 60-80 minutes-- there is a $25 Testing Office administration fee for each test taken and is payable at the time of the exam; this can be paid by cash, check, or money order . Students will then proceed to Language Testing International and register for an academic test and pay for their exam(s).  When registering for a test in this system, students seeking licensure must search by the State Teacher Application category, non-Education majors search by the University, School or Academic Program category.  Students will be required to select three testing dates and times (student should select the date and time registered for at UW-Whitewater and then select dates and times for the next two weeks after).  Students register for exams that are labeled "Advanced" and the following are required for UW-Whitewater students:

French/German/Spanish Education majors - both exams (OPIc and WPT)

                French/German/Spanish Education minors - both exams (OPIc and WPT)

                French/German/Spanish majors (non-Education) - only the OPIc

                French/German/Spanish minors (non-Education) - no exam

Click here to get information on the exam that you want to take and the procedure to schedule this exam and pay for the exam.  The Testing Office administration fee is paid to the Testing Office by Castle Worldwide- this fee is a fixed cost for all Castle Internet-Based Testing Centers, and is part of your initial exam fee. Test times vary from 2-6 hours in length.

Departmental Exam

Students must contact the department for permission to take the exam and then the department contacts the Testing Center to approve the student and send testing materials and requirements/procedures (if this applies).  Students register for a test by calling the Testing Office at 262-472-5613-please check the weekly calendar for paper or computer-based testing times and schedule accordingly.  There is a $25 Testing Office administrative fee for each exam taken and is payable at the time of the exam; this can be paid by cash, check,  money order, or billed to student account (current UWW students only).  Exams vary in length.  Students do not need departmental permission to take the Arithmetic Skills Test-they must register for a test by calling the Testing Office at 262-472-5613-please check the weekly calendar for Paper Based Testing times.

Miscellaneous Exam

Students must contact the department, University, or testing agency for permission to take the exam and have them contact the Testing Center to grant approval and send testing materials and requirements/procedures (if this applies).  Students then register for a test by calling the Testing Office at 262-472-5613and sign up for a paper based or computer based test (whichever applies to their test).  There is a $25 Testing Office administrative fee for each exam taken and is payable at the time of the exam; this can be paid by cash, check, or money order.  Exams vary in length.
