Biology Internship Opportunities

University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS) is accepting applications for biology internships as described below. Please review all information, guidelines & links if interested in applying.

Description of Internship:The intern will assist direct care staff in the provision of health care services to students at University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS). UHCS provides confidential outpatient care of minor illnesses and injuries as well as preventive medicine, health education, and reproductive care. Interns will receive class credit for their internship.

Internship is an excellent way of gaining experience that will:

Work experience opportunities for Health Education students

1. Develop bulletin board kits - Research a health topic of interest to college students and create a visually appealing bulletin board display on the computer. These will be printed and laminated and then checked out by RA’s to display in the residence halls.

2. Develop a brochure – Research a health topic of interest to college students and create an interest grabbing brochure. This will be printed and made available to students through the Wellness Resource Center.

3. Create an educational video – Research a health topic of interest to college students and work with Communications students to create an educational health video to be played on Cable 19.intern picture

4. Design a display for a UC display case – Create an innovative and attention grabbing display using existing materials on a topic chosen by the Wellness Coordinator.

5. Co facilitate health education program – Work with Wellness Coordinator to co facilitate discussion and experiential activities during health promotion programs for college students in the residence halls, or student organizations.

6. Write articles for the RP, Healthy U newsletter or web site - Research a health topic of interest to college students and create a clear and concise article.

7. Develop and staff an outreach booth - Create an innovative and attention grabbing booth to be set up in the UC or dining halls using existing materials on a topic chosen by the Wellness Coordinator.

Work experience opportunities for Psychology and Social Work students

1. Develop bulletin board kits - Research a mental health topic of interest to college students and create a visually appealing bulletin board display on the computer. These will be printed and laminated and then checked out by RA’s to display in the residence halls.

2. Develop a brochure – Research a mental health topic of interest to college students and create an interest grabbing brochure. This will be printed and made available to students through the Wellness Resource Center.
