Press-ready and prepress checklist

PRESS-READY PDF
If you are creating a file with InDesign, Illustrator, or Photoshop, use the "Press-Quality" PDF file pre-set export feature. If your layout includes printing to any edges of the page, the bleed allowance must be at least .188" on those edges. Be sure to include crop marks in files with bleed allowances. If you need help setting up press-ready files, here are links to YouTube tutorials:

ADDITIONAL FILE FORMATS
We also support the following programs on both Mac OS and Windows operating systems: Microsoft Office for Mac and Microsoft Office for Windows (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). We are not able to accept Microsoft Publisher files.

IMAGE RESOLUTION
For high quality printing results, image file resolution should be saved at 300 dpi (dots per inch) at 100 percent of the image's final output size. Vector graphics (EPS or Illustrator) are the preferred format for logos and graphics such as clip art, graphs, diagrams, etc.

NEED HELP MAKING YOUR FILE PRESS-READY? For $28 per hour (charged in quarter-hour increments), we can help with page makeup and resolve issues with your file to bring it up to press-ready specifications.

Rush charges and normal turnaround time

Please allow two weeks from date of submission for your project to be printed and delivered. Projects that require turnaround in less than 48 hours will be subjected to a rush charge (total + 50% of total). Printing Services staff will determine on a case-by-case basis-as workload and scheduling allow-if a rush job can be completed in less than 48 hours.

Reprinting a previous print order

Please submit a new printing order and provide the original press-ready file if you are requesting a reprint. We are not able to archive files.

Copy paper

We are not able to supply copy or printer paper to campus from our Printing Services inventory. To order paper, please use the online order form available on the Facilities, Planning, and Management web page.
