This committee structures and administers the promotion process for academic staff. The committee receives and reviews candidates' applications for promotion. Its rankings and recommendations are forwarded to the Academic Staff Assembly, which then forwards the final recommendations for promotion to the Chancellor.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership consists of seven people with academic staff status, five instructional and two non-instructional. Six members function as evaluators, and one member tabulate their evaluations. Persons are appointed to serve on the committee by the Academic Staff Assembly from a list of volunteers. Members are eligible for reappointment. A person serving on the Promotion Committee is ineligible to apply for promotion or to write a letter of reference for anyone applying for promotion.
TERM
Members serve for a two year period. Terms are staggered so that no more than five members' terms end in the same year. Term expires July 1.
