FUNCTION

The IRB will review all research involving human subjects on campus, including extramurally funded research, intramurally funded research, and unfunded research. This includes research by faculty, academic staff, and students. The purpose of the review is to insure conformity with federal regulations, state statutes, and generally accepted ethical guidelines involving the use of human subjects in research.

MEMBERSHIP

• ex-officio chairperson, Associate Dean for Research (non-voting member, except in ties)
• ex-officio, an MD or RN from Student Health Service
• 1 faculty member from College of Business/Economics
• 2 faculty members from College of Education
• 1 faculty member from College of Arts
• 1 faculty member from natural sciences in College of Letters and Sciences
• 1 faculty member from social sciences in College of Letters and Sciences
• 1 faculty member from humanities in College of Letters and Sciences
• 1 non-University member, preferably an attorney
