Who Are We?
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater/Community Optimist Club is a merger of two former Optimist clubs. The oldest was known as the "Downtown Club" and was founded in July 1982. In October 2002 it merged with the UWW/Community Optimist Club, which had been organized in November of 1991. As a result of the merger we are a stronger group with a wide variety of activities and events, which are pointed toward helping children and youth. We currently have a membership of 68.
All of the money (100%) raised by our Optimist chapter is spent locally to promote Optimist's focus on being a "Friend of Youth". Only member dues and member contributions are sent to Optimist International, our non-profit parent organization that facilitates chapter development, training of officers and activities at the national level.
