Board of Directors Meeting
February 4, 2008
The meeting was called to order by Tom Hinspater, president. Present: Kim Adams, Frank Bartlett, Barb Dickens, Tom Hinspater, Linda Kinson, Carol Miller, Kathy Schumacher, Kim Simes, and Wes Therrian.
Secretary’s Report – Linda Kinson asked for clarity on the December 3, 2007, meeting minutes. SWIS Pledge - $50,000 was pledged by Governor Michael and Fred Dorn, OI Foundation Chair, for the SWIS District 09. Each club is asked to raise funds for the foundation in order to meet this amount. Discussion followed on the Optimist International Foundation. Frank indicated that our club sent $324 to OI last year. Kathy said that there are individual members who give to the OI Foundation and our club gets credit for it. The club number of 09230 should be on the check for the club to get credit. It was suggested that we bring in the OI District Chair to speak to our club. On a Therrian/Bartlett motion, the Secretary’s Report of December 3, 2007, was approved. Kathy Schumacher moved/Kim Simes seconded that the minutes from the January 7, 2008, meeting be approved. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report – Frank Bartlett indicated that eleven members still have to pay their dues for this year. Frank also brought up the fact that our club had made a previous commitment of donating funds to Downtown Whitewater, Inc. Frank will check our past records to see how many years our commitment was for. Frank has since found the board minutes of February 6, 2006, whereby our club approved the payment to the downtown Whitewater organization of $250/year for three years. This year’s payment would be the last for our commitment. Frank will issue a check for $250. It was suggested that a representative from the Downtown Whitewater, Inc., present a program to the members. On a Schumacher/Therrian motion the treasurer’s report was approved.
Old Business – It was suggested that Duane Dickens and Jim Miller be contacted regarding moving forward with plans for the Optimist Park donation.
