Section 508 Compliance

HTML Coding Tutorial

Updating Text-Only Versions

(k): A text-only page, with equivalent information or functionality, shall be provided to make a web site comply with the provisions of this part, when compliance cannot be accomplished in any other way. The content of the text-only page shall be updated whenever the primary page changes
Explanation: Text-only pages mimic the content of the original pages but are structured so that they resolve most major accessibility issues. Thus, web sites that use inaccessible elements, such as flash navigation and complex pages, often offer a text-only version of the site with simpler presentation
Importance: Text-only pages must contain equivalent information or functionality as the primary pages. Also, the text-only page shall be updated whenever the primary page changes

Do-It-Yourself Fixes

The only thing you can do here, if your current web site includes features that are not that accessibile, or when accessibility cannot be accomplished in another way is to create a text-only version of the site. This way, users who cannot access certain features of your current site will not be directed to the accessible text-only site.
