UW-W Branding

One of the most important factors in the success of University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s graphic identity is consistent implementation of branding across the University. Adherence to these guidelines will increase the effectiveness of the UW-Whitewater brand for the entire institution.

Logo

The logo is a single unit; the two elements of the seal and the words "University of Wisconsin-Whitewater" are always to be presented together. The only exception is if space is limited on the page in which case the seal by it’s self is allowed. However, the words still need to appear on the page and be clearly visible.  The approved logo for the web is the horizontally aligned; two color version with out the slogan as it is more easily readable online.

Color

The official colors of UW-Whitewater are purple and white.
RGB color: r = 74, g = 51, b = 101
Hexadecimal: 4A3365

Size and Placement

The horizontal logo should never appear smaller than 90 pixels in height. The vertical seal should not be used smaller than 36 by 36 pixels but if possible should be at least 90 by 90 pixels. Do not crop the logo or blend it into a background. Allow 5 pixels of space around the logo or seal.

Typography

The typeface used in the wordmark is Trajan.

Usage

General guidelines

  • Maintain the orientation of the logo
  • Treat the logo elements as a single unit (horizontal logo only)
  • Keep the logo whole and intact

Improper Usage

  • Tint or screen the logo or make different elements of the logo different colors
  • Tilt or rotate the logo
  • Separate the logo elements or change the orientation of one to the other (horizontal logo only)
  • Blending the logo off the page or into a background color and or crop it
  • Print type or images over the logo or use the logo as a background element

Commercial Use

The UW-Whitewater seal, wordmark and monogram are legally protected trademarks. For promotion and resale applications the "TM" subscript must be incorporated with the UW-Whitewater seal and wordmark to provide proper legal protection. Any commercial, fund-raising or promotional uses of the trademarks, or other licensed logos, require prior approval.
