Community-Based Learning

Welcome to Community-Based Learning at UW-Whitewater

The program for Community-Based Learning (CBL) supports the mission and core values of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater by providing opportunities to help students succeed in their academic programs and beyond. CBL houses a service-learning High Impact Practice, which complements other student success initiatives and campus programs. CBL and UW-Whitewater collaborators, together, foster a campus community that is characterized by inclusive excellence for all students at UW-Whitewater.

Civic engagement and Community-Based Learning play a prominent role in what it means to have a high quality, liberal education and educate students who are prepared for the 21st century. A liberal education helps students develop a sense of social responsibility, as well as strong and transferable intellectual and practical skills such as communication, problem-solving, and a demonstrated ability to apply knowledge in real-world settings.
