The arts nurture a motivation to learn by emphasizing active engagement, disciplined and sustained attention, persistence and risk taking, among other competencies. Participation in the arts also is an important strategy for engaging and motivating students at risk of dropping out of high school and for those with special needs. (NASAA)

Arts4All is a program developed to provide disadvantaged and at-risk students with the opportunity to attend multiple live theatre, dance events, and concerts throughout the school year.

              HOW IT WORKS

Schools with an economically disadvantaged student population may apply for complimentary seats, subject to availability. Participants are contacted when a performance is not sold out and seats remain available for that show. Approximately six weeks prior to each Horizons show, Young Auditorium's Education and Outreach Coordinator determines whether or not there are seats available for Arts4All participants. When seats are available, Arts4All participants are contacted and offered complimentary seats for the performance. (The number of free seats offered will not exceed the number of students at the school who are eligible for the program; free seats are also provided for an adequate number of teachers and chaperones to accompany students.) Participants must respond to either accept or decline an offer.

Schools that attend Horizons shows through the Arts4All program remain responsible for providing bus transportation to and from Young Auditorium. It is a very good idea for your school board, administration, or PTO to build bus transportation for Arts4All into the budget at the beginning of the fiscal year, so that you are able to access those funds to pay for transportation when free tickets become available for your school.

              ELIGIBILITY

A school is eligible to participate in this program if 35% or more of the student body participates in the federal free and reduced lunch program. The maximum number of free seats that your school will be offered for a single performance will be determined by the number of students who are eligible. The school must provide proof of eligibility in the form of documentation from the district or a signed letter from the school principal stating the total number of enrolled students and the number of students who are eligible for the free and reduced lunch program.

              APPLICATION

To apply, download the application and either email or mail it to Young Auditorium. Don't forget to include proof of eligibility with your application. You will receive an e-mail confirmation to acknowledge receipt of your application. Please contact Shannon (262-472-1432) for more information.
