              School Outreach Program: Artists in the Schools

              Requests for Horizons outreach may be made by phone at the same time as you place your reservation for a performance, or by calling the Education and Outreach Coordinator at 262-472-1432. Workshop availability is limited and requests are filled in the order that they are taken. We reserve the right to match requests for outreach activities based on the number of participants and geographical location of the school. Some workshops may only be available to school groups that purchase seats for the corresponding performances. Fees are listed for each workshop and support the Horizons programming. Dates and times for outreach are negotiated between the school contact and the Education and Outreach Coordinator based on the presenter's availability. All outreach activities take place at your school, unless otherwise noted. Please call 262-472-1432 for more information.

              FLAT STANLEY EXCHANGE WITH YOUNG AUDITORIUM

              Sign-up deadline is Friday, December 19, 2014
              Grades K-5
              No fee to participate, but participation is limited
              Ever wonder what happens backstage? Find out with the Flat Stanley Exchange! Your class can send a Flat Stanley to Young Auditorium and we'll send him back with pictures and a full report on his backstage adventures. You never know who he will meet! The earlier you send Stanley, the more adventures he'll have!

              Missoula Children's Theatre Workshops

              Offered - February 3, 4, and 5, 2015
              Grades K-12 - 45 min. sessions
              $75 fee per session/ $225 fee for assembly program
              Presented by Missoula Children's Theatre Actor/Directors
              Missoula Children's Theatre will visit your school to work with students who are interested in theatre basics, such as role-playing, improvisation, character/role development, mime technique, or make-up and visual effects. This is an excellent way to provide your students with a hands-on learning experience about theatre before or after they come to see a performance. Call for more information about workshops or auditions for MCT's 2015 production at Young Auditorium.

              AMERICAN SHAKESPEARE CENTER WORKSHOPS

              Offered - March 10-11, 2015
              Grades 9-12
              $200 fee per session

              "That's a Certain Text" - Verse. ASC actors will take students through the basic steps involved in acting Shakespeare at The American Shakespeare Center. Explore tools of rehearsal such as scansion, understanding the importance of meter, and paraphrasing, all of which help take Shakespeare's words from the page to the stage. Participants of all experience levels are welcome. Excellent for both English and Drama students.

              Basic Drama Games and Theatre Etiquette Workshops

              Offered - upon request throughout the 2014-2015 school year
              Grades K-12 - 45-60 min. sessions
              $75 fee per session or $150 per day (for 2 or more consecutive sessions)
              Presented by young Auditorium's Education and Outreach Coordinator (WI Certified Teacher)
              Prepare your students for a live performance with this workshop that introduces theatre etiquette through role-play and involves your students in basic drama games. Students will learn about stage blocking, improvisation, character expression and body movement in a fun, interactive and inclusive manner. This workshop will be modified to meet the age and experience of your students.

              Upon request, a session for small school groups and home school groups may be scheduled at Young Auditorium on the morning of the performance that your group is attending. The fee for a session at Young Auditorium is $2 per participant.
