Frindle

Once fifth grader Nicholas Allen learns an interesting tidbit about words and where they come from, he is inspired to hatch his greatest plan yet: to invent a new word. To the dismay of his parents and frustration of his teacher, from now on, a pen is no longer a pen - it's a Frindle! It doesn't take long for Frindle to take root, and soon the excitement spreads well beyond his school and town. Nick soon discovers that Frindle doesn't belong to him anymore. All he can do is sit back and watch what happens. This quirky, imaginative tale based on Andrew Clement's novel about creative thought and the power of words is sure to inspire your students too.
