Director's Note
Welcome to the Young Auditorium's 2011-2012 Season! This season offers a world of artistic diversity and excellence. We invite you to maximize your access to the world of the performing arts by becoming a member of the auditorium. Membership helps sustain the life of the Young Auditorium. Becoming a member now puts you at the head of the line during the new member purchasing window. New members have an exclusive window from June 17th and through July 28th to purchase tickets before they go on sale to everyone. At the Supporter level and above, you receive a 10% discount on all ticket purchases right up until the day of the show. In addition, you receive a 15% discount on all tickets purchased for events scheduled January - April 2012 if the tickets are purchased before July 29th. To insure good seats and discounted tickets please become a member now.
As we take this opportunity to invite you to become a member of the Young Auditorium, we would like to share with you some the auditorium's sustainability efforts. The Young Auditorium is now a certified member of Travel Green Wisconsin www.travelgreenwisconsin.com. The Department of Tourism initiated Travel Green Wisconsin to promote smart, environmentally friendly business practices; the first state-sponsored sustainable tourism certification program in the nation. As more and more people look to make life a little greener, we hope you'll help us reduce the Young Auditorium's environmental impact. The best way you can help is by signing up for ArtsENews at www.uww.edu/youngauditorium just click on the link and enroll. This will ensure that we communicate with you electronically during the course of the season. Our goal is to have everyone transferred to electronic communication so that next season the only printed material you receive will be the full color season brochure.
We are pleased to report the auditorium received funding from the state to upgrade the majority of its traditional lights to energy efficient fluorescent and LED fixtures. We plan on having all of the new lights installed by the beginning of the new season. There are further actions that the auditorium is formulating and some of the proposals have already been submitted.
Lastly, we want to share some good news, the Driehaus Estate Sunset Dinner last fall raised $9,625. The full amount was added to the Irvin L Young Endowment. Growing the auditorium's endowments is one of the most significant means of sustaining the life of Young Auditorium. We are grateful to all of the patrons who were able to attend. Since it was a success in every way many of you inquired if we planned on doing it again, the answer is yes! Please save the date, September 17, 2011, for this season's Driehaus Estate Sunset Dinner on beautiful Lake Geneva.
We've done our best to program something for everyone, brining you a diverse season of world-class performing artists. We hope you find many events that peak your interest and motivate you to join us as a new member for the 2011-2012 season.
Sincerely,
Ken Kohberger
Director
