The University of Wisconsin–Whitewater has a robust system for assessment of student learning. In addition to our active university, college, and department assessment committees, we host a number of events to encourage sharing of assessment projects and strategies as well as and opportunities that support faculty/staff professional development and on assessment.
The University Assessment Grant, provides funding to support assessment projects on campus.
The UW-Whitewater Assessment Institute provides information, training, and a forum for program-based teams to develop and share assessment plans and strategies, with an emphasis on using the program’s assessment data to improve student learning, thereby “closing the assessment loop.”.
The Assessment Fellows Program, trains new assessment leaders, encouraging them to develop assessment knowledge and skills and to leverage their expertise to complete substantial and innovative assessment-related projects on campus.
Finally, at our annual Assessment Day, we provide a space for members of our campus community to share and discuss assessment projects, including presentations of work completed in the opportunities listed above. Participants can attend a keynote presentation, a panel presentation by their peers, and a poster session.
