Bethann Moran-Handzlik
 
Bethann is dedicated to her students in the classroom and to the undergraduate research students and research apprentice students she mentors.   Bethann is honored to have recieved the College of Arts and Communications Teaching Excellence Award. 

Moran-Handzlik's paintings and drawings reflect her interest in the common beauty we find all around us.   She is committed to working from direct observation and memory.  Her paintings have been included in national juried and invitational exhibitions and also exhibited regionally at The Wisconsin Academy, Madison, WI, The James Watrous Gallery, Overture Center, Madison, WI, The Museum of Wisconsin Art, West Bend, WI among others.  Tory Folliard Gallery, Milwaukee, WI represented her work 1999-2006.  Her work has garnered many awards and is held in numerous private and public collections. 

Bethann has been the recipient of a Hudson River Fellowship awarded by the Grand Central Atelier, NY (2014) and a La Napoule Artist Residency in France, awarded by the La Napoule Foundation (2016).  Prior to teaching at UWW, Bethann was Artist in Residence at Skidmore College, NY where she painted, lectured, exhibited and taught.  She returned to Wisconsin with her husband, the poet, Patrick Moran who accepted a position in the College of Letters and Science in 2000 at University of Wisconsin Whitewater.  Together they have 3 wonderful children.  If you would like to see more of her work, she posts on Instagram: pasmeche and her blog: Bethann Moran’s Painting Adventures,  http://bethannmoranpainting.blogspot.com/.
