Auditions/Interviews are required for any new freshman applying for a scholarship from the UW-Whitewater Theatre/Dance Department. The Department will be conducting these auditions or interviews for Freshman Theatre Scholarships on Saturday, February 29, 2020. Applicants should be students who are applying to UW-Whitewater for admission as a Theatre Major in the Fall of 2019. All applicants are asked to submit 1.) the application form, 2.) their high school transcript, 3.) one letter of reference, and 4.) a resume of theatre experiences (ALL DUE - FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2020). You will then be required to attend the Scholarship Auditions/Interviews on Saturday, February 29, 2020.
ACTORS and ACTOR/SINGERS
Students are asked to prepare an audition of a monologue or two contrasting monologues, which will best demonstrate their acting ability. The audition should 2-3 minutes in length, including an introduction. Singing is NOT required. If a song is used, it should be limited to 16 bars of music. Please bring music on a cassette tape or CD, cued to the proper place. A single chair will be provided. All other props or individuals in the scene should be mimed as needed. Following the prepared audition, there will be an opportunity for discussion with the adjudicators. Auditions will take place in the Barnett Theatre in the Greenhill Center of the Arts.
Students should be prepared to discuss their resumes with faculty designers. Any student who has photographs, drawings or designs to show is encouraged to bring those materials as well. Portfolio Reviews/Interviews will take place in the Greenhill Center of the Arts Design Room (room 39).
