UW-Whitewater Girl's Basketball Fundamental 1 Camp

Warhawk basketball coaches and staff will help campers develop solid skills in a fun learning environment. This camp is designed to introduce fundamental instruction at the guard and post positions. The camp also provides multiple opportunities for individual and team competition. This camp is available to players entering grades 5-8 in Fall 2018.

Resident Camper: $305

Resident campers will be housed in one of the residence halls located on the UW-Whitewater campus. The residence hall has a secured entrance and the campers are monitored by the residence hall directors, assistants, and by our own camp counseling staff. Roommate requests will be honored when possible; otherwise campers are paired by age and gender. Developing new friends is encouraged. Rooms are double occupancy only. Please note that our residence halls are not air conditioned. We strongly advise campers to bring a fan if possible. The bathrooms and showers offer clean, individual stalls for privacy. Resident campers will have three well-balanced meals each full day. Meals are included in the registration fee.

Commuter Camper: $265

Commuters are campers who elect not to stay overnight in the residence halls. Commuters do not eat breakfast on campus but will be provided with lunch and dinner. Commuters will be able to go to the residence halls between sessions with teammates or friends if they choose.

Fees Include

The resident camp fee covers lodging, meals, instruction, a camp t-shirt, Warhawk basketball, individual certificate of achievement and insurance. The commuter fee includes noon and evening meals, instruction, a camp t-shirt, Warhawk basketball, individual certificate of achievement and insurance.

Refunds

Early cancellations due to medical reasons will receive a full refund minus $25 cancellation fee if the cancellation is requested 7 days prior to the camp. Medical documentation must be provided and received before the start of camp to qualify.  All other cancellations, including those with medical documentation received after the start of camp, will receive payment back minus $50.  NO REFUNDS will be given for no shows or campers sent home for disciplinary reasons.  All cancellation requests must be submitted to cesevents@uww.edu; provide registrant's name, camp and medical documentation, if applicable.  Refunds will be returned to name and address of payer.

Pre-camp information will be available on this website three weeks prior to the start of camp. Pre-camp information includes check-in and out times with locations, daily schedule, what to bring and other important information you will need to know before attending camp.

Health Form

Each camper must complete the healthEcamper online form 5 days prior to arrival for each camp they attend; no camper will be allowed to participate without completing the form. You can complete the healthEcamper online form after registering.  Use the email address provided to register for this camp as your user name on the healthEcamper website to avoid receiving emails from us indicating you have not completed this health form.

Summer Camp Rules

UW-Whitewater will hold all campers responsible for their conduct. Serious misconduct or disruption will lead to immediate dismissal from camp. Campers dismissed from the camp will not receive a refund. Review Summer Camp Rules for more details.

Parking

Parking permits are required to park on campus. You may park for free at the location and time of check-in and check-out. All other locations and times you will need to have a parking permit to avoid a ticket.

Facilities

The Warhawk Basketball Camps are conducted on the beautiful campus of UW-Whitewater. Campers will have use of recreational facilities including the Williams Center and Kachel Fieldhouse. The Williams Center offers four gyms and a weight room that will be used for instruction and competition. The 60,000-square-foot Kachel Fieldhouse is one of the finest facilities in the country. It features four basketball courts and an indoor running track.

Camp Staff

Keri Carollo, Head CoachKeri Carollo

Keri Carollo enters her 16th season as head women's basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2017-18.

UW-Whitewater enters the season after claiming the program's first-ever Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship. The team clinched its ninth NCAA Tournament bid in the last 10 seasons thanks to a 65-56 victory at UW-Oshkosh in the tournament title game.

Carollo guided the Warhawks to back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament semifinals in 2013 and 2014. UW-Whitewater finished as national runner-up in 2013 and in third place in 2014 to earn two of the four highest national finishes in program history. Carollo also led the team to a third-place finish in 2008, when the program made its first of seven consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

 

Amy Zelinger, Associate Head CoachAmy Zelinger

Amy Zelinger came to UW-Whitewater in the 2003-2004 season and currently serves as associate head coach. She moved up from graduate assistant coach to an on-staff position prior to the 2005-2006 season, and was promoted to associate head coach before the 2012-13 campaign.

Zelinger coordinates the team's full-court defense and works with the guards. Off the court, she handles the team's day-to-day operations, including travel arrangements.

 

Insurance

Each camper will be covered by a limited accident insurance policy. The insurance includes primary coverage up to $7,500 and $300 maximum dental insurance. Insurance does not cover pre-existing injuries and is for accidents only. The cost of insurance is included in the registration fee.
