Jazz Improvisation: Have little to no experience with improvisation? This class will teach you the basics to sound amazing and confident with jazz improvisation

Music Theory:  Looking to brush up on the elements of music theory you want to learn more about? This class will have 2 levels - one for the student just getting started with learning key signatures, note reading, and counting, and the second class will be for more advanced students looking to take their theory knowledge to the next level.

How to Listen/How Music Evokes Feelings:  Each listening session will be a group listening session on music that fits certain themes (happy, sad, majestic, genre specific, etc.)

Conducting:  Have you ever wanted to learn how to conduct the band? This class is for you!  Students will learn how to conduct in both simple meter (4/4, 3/4) as well as compound meter (6/8, 9/8). During this elective, we will explore different conductors in the top symphonies around the world and the basic how-to of a proper 4/4 pattern.

Composition:  Would you like to learn how to write your own piece? In composition class, you will develop the skills to compose your own music!

Musicals:  This class features a discussion and look at famous musicals and different techniques used to compose and orchestrate them.

Music Around the World:  Come and travel around the world with us through music. Discover music from many cultures as we circle the globe!

History of the Blues:  This class will feature  listening examples of the history of the blues from the great migration up the delta. A discussion of instruments, style, and how it is used today in various genres will be discussed.
