In 1983, Sally Ride became the first American woman in space, Margaret Thatcher was re-elected by a landslide, the final episode of M*A*S*H aired to a record audience, Bjorn Borg retired from tennis, McDonald’s introduced the “McNugget” and the Fairhaven Lecture Series as we know it was born. How we have changed in the 30 years since the first Fairhaven lectures were delivered. This semester’s theme, “Turning Points,” provides an opportunity to reflect on the people and events that have shaped our lives since 1983. Please join us for this special celebration of the distinguished tradition UW-Whitewater’s Fairhaven Lecture Series has come to represent.
