Prior Learning

The Credit for Prior Learning class allows students the opportunity to demonstrate the learning they have already done but could not earn credit for otherwise. For students in the Law Enforcement Bachelor’s Degree Completion Program, this will involve demonstrating some of the learning done on the job and in previous educational contexts. Students in the class put together portfolios of artifacts and reflections to demonstrate their learning in relation to a series of learning outcomes. The portfolios are submitted to experts in the field, and these experts decide whether or not the learning demonstrated is sufficient for a passing grade (portfolios are graded Pass/Fail). Students pay only for the portfolio course, 3 credits, but should earn a total of 12 credits at the end of the portfolio course.

Students will complete Methods of Social Research (Sociology 476) and Urban Sociology (Sociology 352).
