Two sessions on dementia care with one of the world's leading dementia educators. This day-long event is free and open to the public and CEUs are available. A Day with Teepa Snow will take place at the Young Auditorium on the UW-Whitewater campus.

Two Sessions | Wednesday, June 15 2022 | 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

  • Session One: A Positive Approach to Dementia Care | 9:00 - 11:45 am
  • Session Two: Coping with Challenging Situations in Dementia Care | 1:00 - 3:30 pm

Spaces are limited to the first 500 registrants in each session.

Sponsors for this event are Fairhaven Senior Services, Rainbow Hospice Care, Fort Health Care and the UW-Whitewater School of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education. The event is presented in collaboration with the Whitewater Dementia Friendly Community Initiative. Additional support from UW-Whitewater Parking Services.

Respite is available for the event all day or half days by calling 262-473-0535 for a respite application before June 3.  Registration for respite care is separate from event registration.  Respite is one block off campus at the Starin Park Community Building and is sponsored by Capri Communities and the Whitewater Dementia Friendly Community Initiative.


Teepa SnowTeepa Snow

Teepa believes that “Rewiring our own perceptions, attitudes, communication strategies, actions, and responses, provides the shift that promotes change for the others around us.”

Originally from West Virginia and western Pennsylvania, Teepa now lives outside Chapel Hill, North Carolina.  She is a graduate of Duke University with a degree in Zoology. She received her MS degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She has a wealth of clinical, teaching, and research experiences that have informed and influenced her philosophy, approach, and practice. Teepa has worked as part of Duke University Medical Center’s Neuro-Rehabilitation Team, at UNC-CH’s Geriatric Clinic, as an OT director in a head injury facility, as a clinical specialist in geriatrics for a Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, and as a therapist and restorative care coordinator for long term care facilities. Her hands-on caregiving experiences include providing direct care in community and wellness centers, day programming sites, home care settings, assisted living and CCRC communities, long term care facilities, out-patient clinics, hospitals, hospice, and rehabilitation settings. Teepa currently has a clinical appointment with Duke University's School of Nursing. She has held a clinical appointment with both Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill's School of Medicine for over 20 years. Previously, she served as the Director of Education and Lead Trainer for the Eastern N.C. Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, as well as the Program Director of Durham Technical Community College's OTA program.

Registration Questions

Registrants will be asked the following questions in the registration.  Please have information prior to registering:

Registrant name, job title, organization, address; phone, email, session(s) attending; meal choice if attending afternoon session, dietary restrictions, how did you hear about this event, I understand the cancellation/refund policy, accommodations/comments

Session Attending: Morning, Session, Afternoon Session, or Both.  If you plan on attending both sessions or the afternoon session, a free lunch is included with your registration.

Boxed Lunch Options: Turkey, Ham, Roast Beef or Vegetarian. All sandwiches are offered on rustic ciabatta bread and include bottled water, chips, whole fruit, condiment packets, napkin and disposable cutlery. Gluten-free option available.

Credit Card

This a free event, however, if you would like to receive CEUs, payment is required. Cost for CEUs are $20. Your online registration and payment are always safe and secure. We accept MasterCard and Visa credit card payments in our online registration system. We will NOT accept credit card payments over the phone. We will accept checks made out to "UW-Whitewater" and mailed to UW-Whitewater Camps and Conferences, 800 West Main Street, Room 2005 Roseman Hall, Whitewater WI 53190.

Once you register to attend an event (including waitlisted), a confirmation email will be sent to your email account. Contact if you do not receive this confirmation email.  You must have a working email address on file with us to be able to receive important announcements and updates about this event.

  • Morning Session - Free
  • Afternoon Session - Free
  • CEUs
    • 0.5 CEUs available for attending either the morning or afternoon session.  1.0 CEUs available for attending both sessions.
    • Cost of CEUs is $20, regardless of number of sessions attended.
    • CEUs are optional.

Included in the Fee:  The morning session fee covers instruction. The afternoon session fee includes boxed lunch and instruction.  The CEU fee covers one CEU certificate.

No refunds are available for this event.   All cancellation requests must be submitted to

We reserve the right to cancel any event due to low enrollment; in this case, all fees paid will be refunded.

Sponsorships & Awards Redemption
For those participants who will be receiving a sponsorship to attend this event: Register and use the promo code your sponsor gave you. The sponsorship will be deducted from your invoice.  Any remaining balance remains the participant's responsibility. Any cancellations will result in the sponsorship funds being returned to the supporting organization.

Any qualifying discounts given by the event will not be applied after you have paid in full. Be sure to use the promo code during check out to receive your discount. You will be charged if you do not qualify for requested discount at the start of event.

A processing fee will be assessed if a refund is issued due to overpayment on your account.

You can sponsor a registrant and cover all or partial fees. We have received requests in the past from schools, companies, organizations, friends and family members that would like to send their chosen registrant to a specific event. Thanks to the generosity of Parking Services, free parking will be available in in Lots 1 & 2.  More information on parking is on the Visitor Center website.

We know that parents and children value the ability to be able to call each other at a moment's notice.  For that reason, we do not prohibit cell phones at camp, but ask that cell phone use does not interfere with the event and other participants.  Parents are responsible for setting clear guidelines for cell use with their child.  We will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Registrants are encouraged to have their own health insurance as accident insurance provided by the University is limited. Each registrant will be covered by a limited accident insurance policy. The insurance includes primary coverage up to $10,000. Insurance does not cover pre-existing injuries and is for accidents only. The cost of insurance is included in the registration fee.
